Advanced Dental Imaging

Advanced Facial Imaging Equipment

The cone beam CT scanner in our Victorville office

In addition to expert surgical knowledge on the part of Dr. Chu and his team, we also utilize advanced dental and facial imaging equipment. This helps us ensure optimal success for every procedure.

Cone beam CT scanning allows us to take 3-dimensional, high resolution scans of your facial anatomy. We can then view these images from different angles, take precise measurements, and easily share 3-D data with other doctors. This leads to greater predictability for surgeries, and the best possible surgical results.

Cone Beam CT Scans

A key to the safety and success of complex surgery is advanced radiography. Cone beam digital CT scanning allows us to take 3-dimensional, low radiation, high resolution CT scans of your facial anatomy. We can then view these images from different angles, take precise measurements, and easily share 3-D data with other doctors.

Cone beam imaging is ideal for patient comfort. It offers an "open-environment" design that reduces anxiety, and images can be taken in a matter of seconds, limiting discomfort and exposure to radiation.

Precision Implant Placement

Cone beam views used to plan implant position away from nerves and sinuses

A key to dental implant safety and success is advanced radiography. A CT scan ensures that every possible precaution has been made to reduce the risk of involvement of the nerves in the lower jaw, and the sinuses and nose in the upper jaw. This helps to reduce chair time and the possibility of complications. The scan is done here, during your visit.

Cone Beam Computerized Tomography Services

We offer advanced imaging CBCT services to the surrounding dental community. The scanner is dental specific, resulting in low radiation and high resolution for dental diagnosis.

This high-resolution technology accurately detects dental caries and identifies endodontic pathology, including potential fractures or other complications. CBCT evaluation is also helpful for oral surgery, implant planning, periodontal diagnosis, airway studies, paranasal sinus conditions and dental pathology.

Imaging for Referring Dentists

We use cone beam imaging for the majority of our surgical cases, and we can also provide this imaging for local dentists when a complex case needs additional information. We welcome referrals and can send imaging results directly to your practice to aid in treatment. Information for referring doctors

Frequently Asked Questions

When can 3D cone beam CT scans make a difference in oral care?

While traditional x-rays are enough in most oral health care situations, 3D Cone Beam CT imaging can help get a clearer picture of bone and tissue structure when looking at dental implant and impacted wisdom teeth planning.

How is this different than traditional x-rays?

Traditional dental x-rays provide a two-dimensional image of your oral cavity. With the 3D Cone Beam CT scan, your dentist can receive a comprehensive and accurate 3D image of your teeth, tissues, and bone structure.

What can a facial CT scan show?

It provides detailed images of the bone and tissue in the oral cavity and areas of the jaw, face, nasal cavity and sinuses.

Is a 3D cone beam facial CT scan safe?

The 3D Cone Beam Facial CT Scans are a safe and effective diagnostic imaging test, similar to traditional x-rays. In fact, these scans use a lower dose of radiation that is used with traditional CT scans.
