Your First Visit with Dr. Chu
Your first appointment at Victorville Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center is a consultation with Dr. Curtis B. Chu. He reviews your health history and imaging, examines the area of concern, and explains his diagnosis and recommended treatment before anything is scheduled. You leave with Dr. Chu's recommendation and a clear next step.
Complete Your Forms Online
All new patient forms are completed digitally. When you schedule, you receive access to your MyChart patient portal, where you can fill out your registration and health history from home. Finishing them before your visit gives Dr. Chu time to review your history and keeps check-in brief.
What Happens at Your Consultation
Dr. Chu begins with your medical and dental history, then examines your teeth, jaw, and soft tissues. When your case calls for it, he takes 3D cone beam CT images in our office, giving him a three-dimensional view of the teeth, nerves, and bone before he plans treatment. He then walks you through what he found, the treatment he recommends, and the anesthesia options for your procedure, and he answers your questions before you decide.
When your treatment needs additional planning, sedation, or coordination with your dentist, Dr. Chu schedules surgery as a separate appointment. If your dentist referred you, he keeps them informed of the plan.
Tell Us About Your Health
Before your visit, let our team know about any medical conditions, past surgeries, allergies, and medications, including blood thinners. If your physician or dentist has told you to take antibiotics before dental treatment, tell us and follow their instructions so Dr. Chu can plan around them.
